Oracle Tools Direction
By Susan Duncan
Uploaded on 20-JUN-12
Over fifteen years ago, Oracle sent me out on my first consulting assignment: standards manager for an Oracle Designer project at a blue chip UK company. I could take up this whole article on my adventures in Designer there, but what stood out for me, and still does, was how they went about builds. Designer, Database, Forms – all the developers stopped work and the compile team took over. The build took two days, and if it failed, it then took more than a week to complete with much frustration and stress thrown in for good measure. I thought it was the norm for some time until I had my first ‘automated build’ experience!
