History of ODTUG

ODTUG has a long and proud history of supporting developers, beginning in 1990 with a passionate group of technologists. Below is a brief overview of the many milestones in ODTUG's past.

The Early Years

  • People interested in Oracle CASE issues began to meet informally in 1990 and called themselves the Oracle CASE Special Interest Group (OCSIG).
  • OCSIG’s first conference was held at Keystone Resort in 1990.
  • In March of 1991 more than 80 OCSIG members met in Washington, DC at the popular Oracle ECO Conference and officially formed an executive committee.
  • Rik Williams volunteered to be the first chairman of OCSIG.
  • In April 1991, OCSIG held its second conference at Keystone Resort in Colorado.
  • The first issue of briefCASE, the OCSIG technical newsletter, was published in September 1991.
  • By December 1992 OCSIG had a SIG Administrator, Lee Ann Suehrstedt and was headquartered in Denver.
  • OCSIG held its third successful conference in Philadelphia during March 1993 in conjunction with the Oracle ECO meeting.
  • The next OCSIG conference was held on September 26, 1993, the Sunday preceding the Oracle Users Week in Orlando, Florida.
  • David Wendelken and Gokulnath Venkataraman were officially named as co-editors of  briefCASE in 1994.
  • Growing in popularity, OCSIG held its next extremely successful conference in Keystone,CO during April of 1994.
  • Powel Crosby became the second president (formerly called chairman) of OCSIG
  • OCSIG was incorporated in February 16, 1995 in the state of Georgia.
